Hi! My name’s Anna (Anastasia) and I’m the girl behind The House & Homestead. I’m so glad you’ve joined me!
I am a momma to a beautiful baby girl, a wife to a wonderful, loving, handyman husband, a writer by trade and a teacher by profession. I am also a city girl by birth and a country girl by choice. I’m a homemaker by nature and I’m a homesteader in-the-making, self-taught with countless hours of research, trial and error.
I am passionate about food, sustainability, self-sufficiency and living better for less money. I live with my husband Ryan, baby girl Evelyn and our rabbit and two cats on just over an acre of land. Here we grow our own fruits and veggies, cook from scratch, preserve food, make our own home and body products and enjoy the simple blessings in life.
I am completely self-taught and am still very much learning as I go, so this blog will be a mixture of me sharing my expertise in some areas as well as the trials and learning curves I face in other areas.
I hope to demystify the homestead lifestyle by inviting you along on my own journey. My goal is to help simplify the processes of growing food, preserving, cooking from scratch, homemaking, frugal living, prepping, home and nature-based education, sustainable living and so much more.
Saving money, eating better, living more naturally and increasing your self-sufficiency can feel overwhelming at times. This is why my focus is on sharing the simplest way I know how to do things. Because I know that when anything gets too complicated, we are more likely to quit (or never even begin).
So please, grab a cup of coffee or tea (or wine;) and hang out for a while. Then, put your apron on and let’s get to work creating a healthier, more natural, more sustainable life for ourselves, for our families and for our shared planet. The simple life doesn’t need to be complicated!
Welcome to my house and homestead 🙂
